State Bank of Hawley was established in 1892. The bank has always been locally owned and operated. The current ownership acquired the bank in 1973. In 1985 the State Bank of Hawley Employee Stock Ownership Plan became a part owner and has increased their ownership since then. In 1994 the bank opened a full-service office in Moorhead.

In 1993 the owners of State Bank of Hawley recognized a need in Moorhead for an independent community bank. In January 1994 the bank opened a full-service branch at 14th Street and 30th Avenue South. At this location the bank offers traditional bank products, commercial, real estate and consumer loans, safe deposit boxes and IRA’s.
