In 1912, a group of Hartland business men and farmers invested their resources to create the Farmers State Bank of Hartland. The Skophammer family became involved with the Farmers State Bank of Hartland in 1929.

In 1999 Farmers State Bank of Hartland purchased the Freeborn bank. In 2004 Farmers State Bank of Hartland opened a branch in Albert Lea and moved into the Prairie Center Office Building in 2005.

Farmers State Bank of Hartland remains a privately owned Freeborn County business. The owners and staff are dedicated to providing the products and service the customers desire and expect. Farmers State Bank of Hartland received the Albert Lea Tribune’s Reader’s Choice Award as Best Bank in 2006.
